Rathbun Lake - Our home portRathbun Lake, also known as Iowa's Ocean, is an 11,000 acre lake constructed and managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in southern Iowa. The lake was dedicated by President Richard M. Nixon on July 31, 1971 .Rathbun Lake has much to offer both sailors and power boaters. With a nine mile fetch of open water on the main body of the lake, the size of the lake combined with the prevailing winds make Rathbun Lake one of the best sailing lakes in Iowa. And both sailors and power boaters find the lake's numerous coves ideal for anchoring out. Water skiing and fishing are also very popular on the lake. Rathbun Lake has two marinas and the Honey Creek Destination Park on its shores.
